A Message from the Principal

Dear Sunrise Drive Families,

The campus will be busy on Saturday, October 1st between 7:00-12:00 as many of you volunteer your time to spruce up the campus and prepare our garden for planting. Mike and Amber Schwartz will lead of team of volunteers to improve our campus: painting the blue line and yellow footprints, sweeping corridors, and raking wood chips. A special thank you to Emily Franklin and Shirley Harvey for organizing our school-wide gardening activities during the year. We thank the Sunrise Drive FFO for supporting our gardening with the purchase of seeds and seedlings and supporting the campus improvements with the purchase of blue and yellow paint and supplies. Tanks Green Stuff made a donation of compost to the FFO and supplied a roll off so that all garden debris may be disposed of efficiently. We appreciate the community support.

Teachers are working with family members to schedule Fall Conferences. We will see many of you between October 10-12 during the district designated conference days, however, we will extend the conference dates to accommodate parent schedules and ensure we meet with all families. We look forward to meeting with you.  

On Monday, October 17th we will begin offering club meetings during recess following lunch. Announcements will be made each day to remind students about their choices for recess. All clubs are voluntary. Students may elect to participate as frequently as they choose to do so.
  • ·      Monday: Lego Club in the Library
  • ·      Tuesday: Spelling Club in the Library
  • ·      Wednesday: Garden Club in the Garden
  • ·      Thursday: Student Council in the Library
  • ·      Friday: Steppers on the Big Field beginning on November 4th


We understand that schedules change. Please help us respond to your child’s dismissal needs with timely communication. Parents/guardians should communicate any change for dismissal to the classroom teacher before 7:45 AM or the office after 7:45. Either a written note, email or a phone call from a parent/guardian is needed for a change in a child’s dismissal plan. Please contact Brenda at 209-7901 or briveralopez@cfsd16.org to report changes in dismissal arrangements.
