A Message from the Principal

Dear Sunrise Drive Families,

Student voice is part of our work with students. Fourth and fifth-grade student leaders have requested that the Sunrise Drive learning community participates in a collection of items to support the victims of the recent hurricane. The students’ desire to organize their efforts to support others exemplifies the Deep Learning Proficiency of Citizenship: Civic Literacy and Engagement. In this DLP, students identify a civic need or problem and pose a solution while contributing to organized civic activities.

Between September 7th – 14th students may bring needed items to their classroom. A special “Thank you!” is extended to Sprouts for donating the collection bags. We look forward to sharing our collection results with you in future communication.

Our children are precious, and each adult contributes to the safe arrival and dismissal of our students. We ask you to follow the procedures for the safety of all students. We realize schedules are busy, and we encourage you to take a few extra moments to use the crosswalk properly and move your vehicle safely. Please remember the following safety practices:

  • Use the Visitors lot for arrival and dismissal. The Staff and Bus lot is designed for large buses and vans at arrival and dismissal.
  • Use the sidewalk and crosswalk to travel to and from the school to your car if parking. Please refrain from crossing the parking area in undesignated crossing spots.
  • Use the right side, passenger door, for students to exit the car when using one of the six drop off spots. Drivers should remain in the car and not exit the car.
  • Yield to pedestrians.
  • Please park in designated parking spots. The drop-off and pick-up lane are for vehicles that stop for a child exiting the car with the driver in position to move away as soon as the child exits safely.

Many events are scheduled for the upcoming month. We hope to see you as a participant or volunteer.
