A Message from the Principal

Dear Sunrise Families,

Sunrise students have had a wonderful start to the year.  It is exciting to see old friends and meet new ones in our classes. The classrooms are buzzing with enthusiasm as the students learn.  Here are a few of the comments shared with me this week:

 A Kindergartener on the playground shouted, “Ms. Davidson, I love my school!”

 A first grader twirled on the playground, “I am spinning in space! Look at the meteor shower!”

 While eating lunch, a second grader named the healthy foods in his neighbor’s lunch and announced, “I like everything except lettuce.  I do not like lettuce in my sandwich!”

 A third grader walking by the garden asked, “Do you think that pumpkin weighs ten pounds?”

 In Music a fourth grader shared, “Music helps kids learn.  It builds intelligence.  If a kid wants to be a singer when you grow up, you can study music.  I am going to be a singer!”

 In science a fifth grader talked with a partner about the importance of teamwork, “It is important to have a team, because you can get something wrong.  The team can help you correct your work. You can learn from your team.”

We thank you for your support of our school programs.  We are grateful for the school supply donations and volunteer hours devoted at the beginning of the year.  A special thank you for your support of the FFO Spirit of Sunrise fundraiser.  Your donation to the Spirit of Sunrise supports field trips, classroom grants, and school events such as Love of Reading and Spelling Bee. Sunrise volunteers support the success of our students' success. We appreciate the parents, grandparents, and all the family members who give their time to help our school’s special events. We ask you to consider volunteering at the upcoming events: Book Fair and Spiders and Cider.  Please visit the website to sign up to volunteer at our events.
